The only thing candy.com has got going for itself is the
keyword candy. The site is not particularly attractive
to look at but appearance isn't always necessary when it
comes to making money on the web. They don't even sell
deserts by the way.
The site was appraised at $2 million dollars last
week and Rick Schwartz, the owner of the site,
declined the offer claiming he wants to hold on to
his domain name to see how far he can take it.
As the U.S. housing market slumps sales of domain
names, the real estate of the Internet, climbed an
astonishing 60 percent last year alone. More than
100 reported domain sales exceeded the $100,000 mark
in 2007 - up from 70 the year before. And last May,
an adult-themed domain sold for $9.5 million.
Keep in mind domains are a virtual real estate. So
does this mean mean we are going to go into the same
slump? I highly doubt it.
